This is a very interesting and obscure title. Tegami is a freeware/shareware horror visual novel. It is a haunted gaming story created long before creepypastas such as Ben Drowned would gain widespread attention in the west. Tegami was shared as a Super Famicom ROM on various websites, with various rumours of its origin circulating as well. Unfortunately, very little is known about it today. In terms of narration and sound design, Tegami is very similar to other SFC sound novels such as Otogirisou. However, it is also unique for its usage of pre-rendered photographic backgrounds.

A PC/Linux port of Tegami.sfc can be downloaded above, complete with an English translation. The Japanese SFC ROM is bundled for preservation purposes.
